Webinar 2025-07: NF Clinical Update: Bees and Brains - Unlocking NF Potential

Nature is full of repeating patterns. This is called a fractal. When we use fractals to study one thing, such as the human brain compared to the hive mind of bees, or even the bee brain itself, it can give us information we may have overlooked. This talk will go over several studies that illustrate this fractal pattern, focusing primarily on how bees use the alpha wave to navigate, which can help us to better understand how people may be using the alpha wave to navigate.

What will I learn:

  1. Understand the role of alpha wave for bees and how that can help us in neurofeedback training.
    1. Helps bees focus on their target goal by blocking surrounding stimulus that is not  vital information in the moment.
  2. Different bees have different jobs to collectively keep the hive going, same as in the brain
  3. Be able to see how a neuron’s go or no-go response is similar to a hive during a swarm
  4. Ways that bees and neurons communicate with each other
    1. Chemical (pheromones): fertility, alarm, flower visitation, colony membership, mate attraction.
    2. Mechanical/acoustical: dance, and other shaking, buzzing, vibrating type signals
  5. How we can use nature to better understand ourselves
