Package Description

Chronic pain is among the most common health complaints, and among the most complex to manage. It significantly disrupts lives, affecting work, education, relationships, and costing individuals and society billions of dollars a year in health care and lost productivity. Because chronic pain is inherently biopsychosocial, it lends itself to psychophysiologic interventions. This mentoring webinar will present a general model of chronic pain, discuss typical treatment approaches, and describe the evidence-base for biofeedback intervention. Two cases will illustrate the importance of integrative case planning, and in familiarity with multiple biofeedback modalities.

Objectives:

  1. Describe the matrix model of pain.
  2. Recognize the differences between acute and chronic pain.
  3. Summarize how pain becomes chronic.
  4. Select appropriate biofeedback interventions based on condition and patient response.
